Young-Hee Sweet is an American Korean artist specializing in Metalcraft and lacquer-based mixed media, based in Hawai‘i. She holds a Ph.D. in Metalcraft Design. Her work explores the intersections of nature, time, and materiality through forged metals, wire inlay, and ottchil (Korean lacquer).

 

Before moving to the United States, she taught Metalcraft and Jewelry Design at universities in South Korea, shaping her foundation in both technical craftsmanship and artistic research.

 

Having lived in Germany, Italy, and now Hawai‘i, her multicultural experience deeply informs her artistic vision. Her work has been exhibited internationally and recognized with multiple awards, including honors in both the United States and South Korea.
